About Us

Rushcliffe School provides quality education in a stimulating, secure and supportive environment in which there are extensive opportunities for all to achieve success.

Rushcliffe School is an 11-18 mixed comprehensive school on the south side of Nottingham in an attractive setting adjacent to open countryside and farmland. It was founded in September, 1969, with the amalgamation of the Rushcliffe Boys’ and Rushcliffe Girls’ Technical Grammar Schools. The school primarily serves West Bridgford, Lady Bay, Edwalton, Gamston and Ruddington, and is steadily growing with 1400 pupils currently on roll, including 170 students in the Sixth Form

The school is highly regarded within the community and its academic achievements continue to improve.

Rushcliffe School is a successful and improving school. Improvements have been brought about through the development of a self-evaluating culture and a focus on improving teaching and learning. The school offers a professionally challenging environment in which support is available throughout the school and in particular through subject teams.

Standards of Behaviour

High standards of behaviour, good manners and consideration for others are expected at all times, including travelling to and from school. Good work and progress, plus a successfull contribution to school life are rewarded through the school's commendation system. We trust parents will play their part by ensuring regular attendance and supporting the school's policies on behaviour and homework.

Facilities

Our facilites are extensive. Rushcliffe School boasts one of the best complexes in the area, shared with Rushcliffe Leisure Centre. Specialist subject accommodation in all areas of the curriculum includes a new Learning Resource Centre, four computer rooms, numerous laboratories, four of which have recently been entirely refurbished, Art, Music and Drama areas, and an extensive Technology Suite.

The school is particularly proud of its latest building development. A new Learning resource centre has been built at a cost of £350,000. Its state of the art facilities will provide a vital aid to developing pupil self-learning, taking education well into the 21st Century.

Pastoral Care

The care of individual pupils, when they first join Rushcliffe, is given over to a Head of Year and a Form Tutor. Their close association with these staff continues through Years Seven to Eleven providing appropriate stability, support, care and security. Close links between home and school are again encouraged. Parents are welcome to visit school to discuss matters of concern.

Monitoring Progress and Homework

Pupils' progress is regularly monitored by tutors and teachers. At strategic times all parents are invited to an evening when they will be able to discuss their child's progress. This is complemented by Records of Acheivement at Key Stage 4 and for Sixth Form students, the school has been awarded a Certificate of Quality Assurance for this process. Detailed reports are provided for parents of pupils in all years.
