Year 13 Physics class attended a lecture at Trent University on Monday 4 th February on the subject of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Martin Bencsik, a lecturer at the CELS building, took us through an hour of various experiments and theories, from torque causing precession on a bicycle wheel, to how secret messages can be encoded in what appeared to be just noise. All this led into understanding of how MRI machines actually work. The morning ended with a trip to see a MRI scanner. It was an enjoyable morning for everyone in which we all learned something new.
