Mathematics

The mathematics department consists of 10 members of staff. There are 8 well equipped maths rooms located in ‘B’ block. Each room has an interactive whiteboard and the department has access to the schools networked ICT suites. All maths lessons are taught by specialist maths teachers. Teachers use a variety of teaching styles to engage and challenge pupils.

Aims

The department aims to provide a supportive, yet challenging environment for pupils to explore and develop their mathematical understanding.

Homework

Homework is an important part of the curriculum. It is set on a weekly basis and support from home to ensure completion is very much appreciated.

Maths Challenge

Throughout all years pupils are regularly entered for The Maths Challenge. This is a national maths competition organised by The University of Leeds. Pupils do very well with some going on to compete at European level.

www.mymaths.co.uk is a subscription web site with password entry. Teachers will often refer pupils to this site. The password will be given to the students in school.
